A few more parts.

This is a little late on what's going on but here are a few updates on the bike.

I am behind on rebuilding the bike as I had placed an order for some parts, waited about a month, nothing came.
By the time I contacted the company, they searched and tried to figure out what happened and then re-sent my order I was about 3 months behind. It is now winter...
I have placed 3 other orders with a couple of other companies and have received the parts. Some were some rare parts that were missing and hard to find.

A couple of months ago I picked up a few more parts that I had re-chromed. The handle bars, part of a shock and 2 front wheel covers.
Here are the front wheel covers.

Here are some parts that I bought off Ebay, this is just a few of the 100 miscellaneous parts from the auction.
Included in that photo is the front and back plate fro the battery and the side bar that connects to the seat bolt(also pictured) to hold up the muffler. There is also the bolts that hold the engine on, I happened to get 2 sets of those. Those were some important parts I seemed to be missing, the painted pieces have been taken to be powder coated blue.

I have more parts arriving today from the US!! These should be enough to complete the frame/handlebars of the bike and I should be able to start working on the engine soon.

Look at that mirror finish!!

Polished the front hub to a mirror finish.
I'm not going to do the rest, I'll leave as a brushed/mirror finish.

A few updates on the bike.

I picked up the completed wheels yesterday, all trued with the tires on.

I wasn't happy with how clean the aluminum was on the front hub so I used the dremel and shined it up even more. This is a before photo when I picked them up. It was shiny but it didn't have that mirror finish I was looking for.

Last week I picked up the rear rack that had been sand blasted and re-chromed. I forgot to take a before photo of it but the sides on the left were painted and the rest was rusted.

This is one of the many other parts that were powder coated grey. I'll post the rest of them another time.

I just uploaded a quick video update on the Honda. The hub came in so I need to get the wheel back together so I can have someone put the tires on it.

A few updates on the Honda S65 from this past week.

Here is some of the work that I did on the bike this week.

Front shocks all cleaned and ready to go.

Rear wheel cleaned and waiting to be trued and new tire to arrive, it should be here sometime this week. Front on right for comparison.

Front shocks inserted into forks. I am missing a small rubber piece so they will have to come out again once I get it.

Cleaning the brake and clutch levers.

New front turn signal holders all shined up and installed. The orange plastic is original.
I put a black sheet up so it's easier to take photos.

Same with the rear turn signals.

Starting to clean the horn.

Horn all cleaned and installed.

Starting to restore the 1966 Honda S65

I haven't posted anything in a while so I thought I would post about restoring my dad's old motorcycle.
When he passed away 4 years ago, he left me 2 things that I needed to restore, a 1957 Jaguar mk7m and a 1966 Honda S65 motorcycle. I'm going to start with the easy one first since I don't know anything about restoring something. This should be fun. I have a friend who is going to help me along the way but I am going to try and learn to do most of the work myself. I probably won't be doing the engine/transmission, he will be doing that part.
I remember when I was young(under 10) the bike being at the side of my grandma's house and the shed. I remember sitting on it thinking this was the coolest thing ever, it just sat there, I don't know what condition it was in at the time. Greg had taken it apart and boxed it up years ago, I told myself I was going to rebuild it. I think this was something that he was going to do at some point so I am going to finish it.

So, this past week I have stripped the bike down to get ready for powder coating. I have been taking photos of everything along the way so I can put it all back together. I have manuals and diagrams, I think I am ready to go. I am also going to stick with the original colour.
